Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is banned. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect area, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many borders.

The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, features 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that features many comforts on top of the gambling den, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
